New Online Sports Betting Platform From William Hill
William Hill PLC, one of the UK’s largest bookmaker, also known for having the best online casinos in the world, have announced they will launch a new online sports betting platform on November of 2008.
William Hill’s previous sports betting ventures had taken a turn for the worst with intense competition and technology issues. William Hill was also forced to scrap a major in-house upgrade to its internet betting operations due to a need for greater investment and time, and ended up costing GBP 22 million.
But the decline in growth has been halted, partly due to the introduction of 30 new games and a brand new advertising campaign. William Hill now looks to be back on track, with percentage growth in the double digits and their new platform release, for successful future.
Currently the company derives about 20% of its gross win from e-commerce. However, with the new focus on the internet and the new platform, William Hill looks to move those numbers into the 25-30% range, possibly upwards of 50%.
Chief Executive Ralph Topping spoke of William Hill’s new direction: "There is a new sense of direction. For too long, we regarded ourselves as bookmakers with a bolt-on activity called gaming. There is a substantial opportunity for growth on the Internet." Topping also noted that part of that opportunity could be realised through acquisitions.
The new platform will be designed by Orbis, a well known UK software provider who deals with other major online betting, poker and casinos, and is scheduled for launch on November 27th of this year.
